Dass das Leben eines Afro-Amerikaners für das amerikanische Rechtssystem scheinbar nicht den gleichen Wert hat, prangerte YG in seinem 2016er-Track an.

Wie Will Smith bereits festgehalten hat: «Racism Is Not Getting Worse, It's Getting Filmed.» Dass die PoC-Community seit jeher mit Polizeigewalt leben muss, zeigten schon Rap-OGs —wie hier KRS-One im Jahr 1993.

Zum Zeitpunkt dieses Songs erlangte die Anzahl jährlicher Opfer einen historischen Höchststand von fast 800 Toten – und das bei weit über 2'000 Shootings. Die Epoche der Sklaverei bleibt für Joey Bada$$ unverzeihlich. Auf seinem 2017er-Projekt sprach er seiner Community aus tiefstem Herzen.
